6 oz uncooked linguine, broken into 3" pieces
1 lb beef top round steak
1 t cornstarch
3/4 c cold water
1/4 c soy sauce
1 tbsp cornstarch
1 tbsp packed brown sugar
2 t white vinegar
1 t sesame oil
1/4 t pepper
1 tbsp vegetable oil
2 t finely chopped ginger root, or 1 t ground ginger
2 c bite size pieces chopped broccoli
1 c sliced mushrooms
1 red or yellow bell pepper, cut into bite size strips
1/4 c sliced green onions (2-3 medium)

Cook linguine as directed; drain. Trim fat from beefsteak. Cut beef, with grain, into 2" strips: cut strips in 1/8" slices. Toss beef and 1 t cornstarch. Mix water, soy sauce, 1 t cornstarch, the brown sugar, vinegar, sesame oil and pepper. Heat wok or 12" skillet until very hot. Add 1 tbsp vegetable oil to wok; rotate to coat sides. Add beef and ginger root, stir fry about 3 minutes or until beef is brown. Remove wok from heat. Add 1 tbsp vegetable oil to wok; add broccoli, mushrooms, bell pepper and onions; stir fry about 4 minutes or until vegetable are crisp-tender. Stir in soy sauce mixture. Cook and stir about 1 minute or until thickened. Stir in beef mixture and linguine. Heat through.
