1 package yeast
1/2 cup water
3 - 6 tablespoons sugar
3 egg yolks
1/2 cup milk
4 cups flour
1 teaspoon salt
1 cup lard or shortening
2 egg whites
3/4 cup sugar
1 teaspoon cinnamon
Chopped dates
Butter frosting

Dissolve yeast in water. Add sugar. Mix in egg yolks and milk. Mix flour, salt and lard like pie crust. Add liquid. Form into ball and place in greased bowl and chill overnight. Divide dough in 3 parts on lightly floured surface and roll each part into 8" x 15" rectangle. Beat egg whites until stiff add sugar and cinnamon. Spread on dough and put on 1-1/2 cups chopped dates and nutmeats leaving 1/2 inch around edge. Roll as jelly roll and seal edges and ends. Place on greased baking sheet forming a crescent shape. Let rise until double about 45 minutes. Bake in 350 oven for 25 minutes. Frost with butter frosting. Is very good frozen.
