2 cups sifted all purpose flour
1 cup granulated sugar
1 cup packed brown sugar
1 cup shortening
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
2 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
1 1/2 cups quick cooking oatmeal
1 cup chopped pecans
1 cup flaked coconut


Sift together flour, sugar baking powder and soda and salt. Add brown sugar, shortening, eggs and vanilla, beat well. Stir in oats, pecans and coconut. Roll dough in small balls and dip tops in sugar. Place on ungreased cookie sheet and bake in 350 oven 12 to 14 minutes. Makes about 8 1/2 dozen cookies.
