1/2 CUP VEGETABLE OIL
4 SQ. UNSWEETENED CHOCOLATE (4 OZ), MELTED
2 CUPS SUGAR
4 EGGS
2 TSP VANILLA
2 CUPS FLOUR
1/2 TSP SALT
2 TSP BAKING POWDER
1 CUP CONFECTIONERS' SUGAR

Mix oil, chocolate, and sugar. Blend in one egg at a time until well mixed. Add vanilla. Measure flour by dip-level-pour method. Stir in salt, flour, and baking powder. Chill several hours or overnight. Heat oven to 350 degrees. Drop teasponfuls of dough into confectioners' sugar. Roll around and shape into a ball. Place about 2" apart on greased baking sheet. Bake 10 to 12 min.

Mom (Marg) Schaub called these 'Snow-on-the Mountain' cookies..... I had just baked up a batch of these and took some next door and asked Mom if she had ever had 'Chocolate Crinkles.' She said, "Yes, but we always called them 'Snow-on-the-Mountain' cookies because that is what they remind you of." So from that day on, everyone has referred to them as "Snow-on-the Mountain" cookies. A favorite cookie with a cool name!
