1/2 c. brown sugar (packed)
1/2 c. dark corn syrup OR 1/4 c. light corn syrup & 1/4 c. molasses
1/4 cup butter
1/2 tsp. salt
6 c. Cheerios© cereal
1 to 1 1/2 c. nuts

Directions:
Heat oven to 325º. Grease or oil jelly roll pan (15x10x1 inch). Heat brown sugar, corn syrup (& molasses if used), butter and salt in 3 quart saucepan over medium heat, stirring constantly, until sugar is dissolved, about 5 minutes. Remove from heat. Stir in cereal and nuts until well coated. Spread mixture in prepared pan. Bake 15 minutes. Cool 10 minutes. Loosen mixture with spatula. Let stand until firm, about 1 hour. Store in covered container.

This can also be used with popped corn. Especially when made with molasses it tastes much like "Cracker Jacks." Follow the same directions, including the short baking time.
