(for an oat version, reduce the flour to 1 cup and stir in ¾ cup quick-cooking rolled oats with the peanuts)

¾ cup peanut butter
¼ cup cooking oil
1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
1 cup packed brown sugar
2 eggs
¾ cup milk
½ tsp baking powder
¼ tsp baking soda
½ cup miniature semisweet chocolate pieces
⅓ cup chopped peanuts
Peanut Butter Frosting (see below)

Grease 13x9x2-inch baking pan. Set pan aside. In a large mixing bowl beat peanut butter and oil with an electric mixer on low to medium speed about 30 seconds or till combined.

Add about half of the flour to the peanut butter mixture. Then add brown sugar, eggs, about half of the milk, baking powder, and baking soda. Beat till thoroughly combined, scraping sides of bowl occasionally. Then stir in the remaining flour and milk. Stir in chocolate pieces and chopped peanuts.

Spread batter into the prepared baking pan. Bake in a 350ºF oven for 25 to 30 minutes or till a wooden toothpick inserted near center comes out clean. Cool in pan on a wire rack. Frost with Peanut Butter Frosting. Cut into bars. Makes 36.

Peanut Butter Frosting: In a large bowl beat 3 ½ cups sifted powdered sugar, ¼ cup peanut butter, and ¼ to 1/3 cup milk to make the frosting of spreading consistency. Makes about 1 ½ cups.
