CAKE:
Combine 1 cup oatmeal & 1 1/2 cups boiling water & let it stand 20 minutes
Cream together 1/2 cup butter,1 cup sugar,1 cup lt. brown sugar & add to oats
Add 2 well beaten eggs,1 1/3 cups flour,1 tsp. cinnamon,1/2 tsp allspice,1/2 tsp.salt ,1 tsp. baking soda & blend well
Bake in a sprayed tube cake pan @350 for 30 to 35 minutes.
TOPPING:
Cream together
6 TBSP. butter,1/2 cup lt. brown sugar,1 tsp. vanilla,1/4 cup cream ~OR~ evaporated milk,1 cup coconut,3/4 cup chopped nuts of choice
Spread onto warm cake
