* 1 cup water
* 1 TBSP. flour
* 1/2 cup butter
* 1/2 cup crisco
* 1 cup sugar
* 1 tsp. pure vanilla extract
* dash salt

Directions:
*In a heavy medium sized saucepan cook flour & water together , whisking to combine well.*Cook 'til it's thick.
*Transfer this into a shallow bowl & cool in the freezer 15 minutes , then transfer into the fridge.
*In the mixing bowl that goes to your stand mixer {here's your excuse to buy a stand mixer if you don't have one....they're fabulous !} combine the rest of the ingredients,on high speed, until very smooth. This will take 15 to 25 minutes in order to break down the sugar granules.
*Add the cooled flour mixture & beat on high 'til it's fluffy , about another 5 minutes or so.

This icing works best on a tube pan cake.
For a twist - use all butter {no crisco} & pure almond extract rather than the vanilla.
