"I have long believed that good food, good eating is all about risk. Whether we're talking about unpasteurized Stilton, raw oysters or working for organized crime 'associates,' food, for me, has always been an adventure."--Anthony Bourdain
This recipe for Dutch Oven Turtle Cake, by Bjarn Bearnson, is from The Pace Family Cookbook ,

families or individuals create heirloom cookbook treasures.
1 chocolate cake mix 1 c. sourdough start 2/3 tsp. baking powder 1 c. milk chocolate chips 1 pkg. caramels 1 cube butter 1/2 c. sweetened condensed milk
Foil line a 12 inch Dutch oven. Mix cake according to directions, add sourdough start and baking powder. Pour half of the batter into the Dutch oven and bake until middle is done and springs back about 20 to 25 minutes. While cake is baking, melt butter and caramels in a small pan. Stir in sweetened condensed milk. When bottom layer is cooked, sprinkle chocolate chips then pour melted caramels over cake. Pour the last half of batter over caramels and return cake to coals. Bake another 20-25 minutes until the middle is done and springs back.
