2 cups all-pourpose flour
1/4 cup powered sugar
3/4 cup butter softened
1 egg
1/4 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp fresh grated orange peel
2 tsp lemon extract
1/4 cup sugar
4 drops yellow food color
2 drops red food color

Combine all cookie ingredents in mixing bowl, beat at low speed,scraping bowl often, until well mixed.
Divide dough in half. Shape each half into a 6X1 1/2 inch log. Wrap in plastic food wrap. Refg until firm (at least 2 hrs). Meanwhile combine sugar and yellow food color in jar with a tight fitting lid.Shake until well mixed(1 to 2 min.) Remove 2 tbls yellow sugar; add red color to remaining sugar and shake until well mixed.
Heat oven to 375ºF cut logs in half lengthwise with sharp knife. Roll 2 halves in yellow sugar and 2 halves in orange sugar. Cut in 1/4 inch slices. Place 1 inch apart. Onto ungreased cookie sheets. Bake for 7 to 10 minutes or until edges are slightly brown.
