1 Lg. whole chicken
Enough flour to lightly coat chicken
1/3 C. Crisco
1 med. onion chopped
Salt and Pepper to taste
Water
Dumplings
2 C. flour
1 tsp. salt
1/3 C. Crisco Shortening
1/2 C. Milk
1 Egg

Directions:
Directions:
In large dutch oven add crisco oil. Lightly salt and pepper chicken then add a light coat of flour and fry till brown (it want be fully cooked) add onion and enough water to cover and cook for 1 hour on med. heat. Dumplings: Mix flour, shortening, salt together until it looks like course meal. Add egg and milk stir with fork till mixed well. Use 1/2 of dough (at a time) to roll out on a lightly floured board, really thin, cut with knife in stripes. Add to the chicken broth (chicken has been taken off the bone) stir lightly at each addition.
