"I have long believed that good food, good eating is all about risk. Whether we're talking about unpasteurized Stilton, raw oysters or working for organized crime 'associates,' food, for me, has always been an adventure."--Anthony Bourdain
This recipe for Dutch Oven Cherry Dessert, by Matthew Laraway, is from The Anderson Family Cookbook,
one of the cookbooks created at FamilyCookbookProject.com. We help
families or individuals create heirloom cookbook treasures.
2 cans cherry pie filling 2 boxes cake mix 3/4 c sprite 1 cube butter
Line dutch oven with foil. Put into the pan 2 cans cherry pie filling. On top of the cherries empty 1 1/2 packages of the cake mixes (dry). Distribute evenly. Dribble slowly 3/4 c. sprite onto dry cake mix. Cut up cube of butter or margarine and layer them on top of the cake mix. Put lid on the pan and cook with coals until done.
My troop won second place in a dutch oven cooking contest we had in our Scouting district using this recipe..
