3/4 cup shortening
2 cups sugar
2 eggs, unbeaten
1 cup buttermilk
5 cups flour
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp double acting baking powder
1 tsp nutmeg
1/4 tsp salt
Directions:
Directions:
Cream shortening, sugar add eggs and beat thoroughly. Add milk and mix. Add mixed sifted dry ingredients. Roll out 1/8 in thick on lightly floured pastry canvas. Cut into desired shapes, sprinkle with sugar. Bake at 450 degrees for 10-12 minutes.
