1/2 cup shortening
2 sticks butter (softened)
3 cups sugar
5 eggs
3 cups all purpose flour
1 cup milk (whole or buttermilk work best IMO)
1 tsp vanilla
1+T lemon

Directions:
Directions:
Blend shortening, butter, sugar until light and fluffy.
Add 1 egg at a time, blending about a minute between each one.
Add flour and milk, alternating between them. Blend well.
Add flavoring
Bake, cold oven (don't preheat) 1 hour at 325 degrees. Then 15 minutes at 350 degrees.
Cool about 10 minutes then dump/flip.
