2 c. flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1 scant tsp. soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1/3 C shortening
1 C buttermilk

Directions:
Directions:
Mix flour, baking powder, and salt. Add shortening and mix well. Add baking soda to buttermilk while holding over mixture and then add to other ingredients. Put on well-floured board and knead lightly 12 or 15 times. Roll to desired thickness and cut out. Bake 15 or 20 minutes at 450 or 475.
Turn dough in oil before baking.
Makes about 15.
