Ingredients: |
Ingredients: 1/2 cup butter 1 dash of salt 1 cup boiling water 1 cup all-purpose flour 4 eggs, room temperature
|
|
Directions: |
Directions:Preheat oven to 400ºF.
In a saucepan, combine butter, salt, and water. Bring to a rolling boil. Remove from heat. Immediately stir in flour with a wooden spoon. Return to low heat and stir until the mixture pulls away from the sides of the pan and forms a ball. Set aside to cool for 5 - 10 minutes.
Gradually stir in the eggs ONE AT A TIME until well blended. (If you don't blend the egg in well, the pastry will have bites of cooked egg.) Spread over the crust all the way to the edges. It does not need to be smooth.
Bake in preheated oven until golden, 45 minutes (30-ish minutes if in convection oven). Allow to cool to almost room temperature before frosting. |
