1/2 c shortening
1 c sugar
1/4 c molasses
1 egg
2 c sifted flour
2 tsp. soda
1/2 tsp. each ginger, cloves and salt
1 tsp. Cinnamon

Melt shortening and cool. In a separate bowl mix flour and spices, set aside. Mix all other ingredients then add the flour mixture, form into 1 inch balls, roll in sugar put on a greased cookie sheet 2 inches apart. Bake at 350 for 8-10 minutes..
