2 cups shortening
4 eggs
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp salt
1 large can (29 oz) fruit cocktail, drain off juice
2 cups sugar
2 tsp vanilla
2 tsp baking powder
5 cups flour

Directions:
Directions:
Cream shortening, sugar, eggs, vanilla together. Add the dry ingredients and the fruit cocktail. For each cookie, place 1 big spoonful of dough on a greased cookie sheet. (If desired, add 1 cup chopped nuts in mixture). Oven 400º for 10-15 minutes.
