Ingredients:
Ingredients:
1/2 cup shortening
3/4 cups sugar
1 egg
1/2 tsp vanilla
1/2 tsp grated orange peel or more vanilla
2 cups flour
1/4 tsp salt
1/2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp baking soda
2 or 3 Tbsp milk

Directions:
Directions:
Cream shortening and sugar, add egg and beat well. Add flavoring and dry ingredients alternately with milk. Instead of rolling them out, I take 2 teaspoons and drop a little ball of dough about the size of a walnut and press with a flat glass or fork dipped in sugar or flour. Sprinkle with sugar before baking. Bake at 375º for 12 minutes. This makes about 1 1/2 dozen good sized cookies. I usually doubel this recipe as it freezes well.
