⅔ cup butter or oleo
1½ cup light brown sugar (firmly packed)
2 eggs (unbeaten)
1 t vanilla
1 T cider vinegar
1 cup evaporated milk
2½ cups all purpose flour
1 t soda
½ t baking powder
½ t salt
1 cup chopped English walnuts

Directions:
Directions:
Cream butter and brown sugar until light.
Add eggs, beat well.
Add vanilla and vinegar to milk.
Sift dry ingredients and add alternatively with the milk to the creamed mixture.
Fold in nuts.
Drop by tablespoon about 2" apart on baking sheet.
Bake at 350º for about 15 minutes until firm to touch.

Frosting
½ cup butter or margarine, 3 cups powdered sugar, ¼ boiling water

Melt butter over medium heat until light golden brown. Add sugar, then water.
Beat until frosting holds its shape.

Makes 4 dozen cookies.
