8 oz Package dates, cut up
1 1/2 C Boiling Water
1 t Baking Soda
3/4 C Butter
1 C Sugar
2 Eggs
2 C Flour
3/4 t Baking Soda
1/2 T Salt

Toppings:
1/2 C Walnuts
1/2 C Chocolate Chips
1/2 C Butterscotch Chips
1/4 C Sugar

Directions:
Directions:
In a medium bowl add dates and 1t soda. Pour boiling water over date mixture and set aside to cool.
In a separate large bowl cream together butter and sugar. Add eggs and beat until fluffy.
In another bowl combine flour, baking soda and salt.
Add the dry ingredients and liquid 9from the date mixture) alternately to the butter mixture, stir in dates last. Pour into a greased 9x13 pan.
Top with walnuts, chocolate chips, and butterscotch chips.
Sprinkle sugar on top.

Bake 350º for 35 minutes. Check with toothpick at 25 minutes. You may need to cover with tinfoil if it starts to brown before it is done (do not overbake).
