Cookies:
3 cups flour
1 tsp baking soda
2 tsp cream of tartar
1/2 tsp salt
1 cup unsalted butter
1 cup sugar
2 tsp vanilla extract
2 eggs

Icing:
3 cups powdered sugar
1/2 tsp vanilla extract (replace with water for stark white icing)
2 tsp light corn syrup
4-5 Tbsp room temperature water
pinch of salt

Cookies:

1. Sift together the flour, baking soda, cream of tartar, and salt. Work together till soft. Then set aside.
2. Gradually add sugar and vanilla to the butter while beating. Beat until smooth.
3. Add 2 eggs to the butter mixture, beating until light and fluffy.
5. Separate dough into 2 sections, wrap and chill in fridge for at least 30 minutes. Preheat oven to 400 while waiting.
6. Roll out dough and use cookie cutters for desired shapes and place on parchment paper lined cookie sheet.
7. Cook for 8 minutes. While cooking, roll-out next batch on additional cookie sheet.

Icing:

1. Use a fork to stir the powdered sugar, vanilla, corn syrup, salt and 4.5 Tbsp water in medium bowl. Then, switch to a whisk and add 1/2 tbsp water remaining. Add more water if needed.
2. Stir in gel food coloring.
