1 c butter at room temperature
2 cups sugar
4 eggs
3 tsp vanilla
5 cups flour-sifted
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp baking soda
3/4 tsp salt

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 400.

Cream butter, sugar, eggs, and vanilla together.

Sift together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Add dry ingredients to cream mixture. Mix well.

Chill overnight or for a few hours before rolling out.

Bake at 400 for 7-10 minutes based on thickness.

Note: the recipe has a note in pencil suggesting 325 degrees for 8-10 minutes. Remove to cooling rack and frost when cool.
