1 cup Crisco Shortening
1 cup granulated sugar
1/2 cup brown sugar
2 well beaten eggs
2 cups sifted enriched flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
12 oz. semi-sweet chocolate chips
1 tsp. vanilla

Directions:
Directions:
1. Preheat the oven to 375º
2. Cream Crisco, sugars, add egg, beat well.
3. Sift dry ingredients together, then add to the mixture
4. Add chocolate chips and vanilla
5. Drop spoonful on greased cookies sheet
6. Bake at 375º for 10 to 12 minutes.

Grandma Whelan made the best cookies. She always would gift them also in a brown paper bag with a yarn bow. When she moved from Grand Lake to Burlington they were still good but never the same. I always thought it was the lake that made them better.
