1 cup butter
1 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup granulated sugar
2 eggs
2 tsp. vanilla
1 1/2 cups flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. nutmeg
1/2 tsp. salt
3 cup old fashioned oatmeal
1 cup dried cranberries
1 cup chopped walnuts
12 oz white chocolate chunks
Zest of 2 oranges

Preheat oven to 350 degrees
Beat together butter and sugars till creamy. Add eggs and vanilla. In another bowl, mix together flour, baking soda, and spices. Add to butter mixture and combine well. Stir in oatmeal, cranberries, orange zest, walnuts and chocolate.
Bake 10 to 12 minutes until just golden. Cool on wire rack.

This is a family staple on the holidays. Cookies are tender and chewy so don't bake too long. I tend to make these a good size rather than small, so they cook the way I want them. Of course, you can substitute raisins and milk chocolate any time of year. Or get fancy and go with dried cherries and dark chocolate. My favorite!
