• ½ cup butter or margarine, softened
• ½ cup shortening
• 2 cups firmly packed brown sugar
• 2 large eggs
• 1 tsp vanilla extract
• 3 cups all-purpose flour
• 1 tsp baking soda
• 1 tsp cream of tartar
• ½ tsp salt
• 1 cup uncooked regular oats
• 1½ Tbsp ground cinnamon

Directions:

Beat butter and shortening at medium speed until creamy. Gradually add brown sugar, beating well. Add eggs and vanilla; beat.
Combine flour, soda, cream of tartar, and salt; add to butter mixture, beating well. Stir in oats.
Shape dough into 3 (12-inch) logs; wrap in wax paper. Freeze 1 hour.
Unwrap dough, and cut into ¼-inch thick slices. Combine ½ cup sugar and cinnamon. Dip each slice into mixture and place on lightly greased cookie sheets.
Bake at 350°F for 9–11 minutes. Remove to wire racks.
