1 cup sugar
6 cups flour
1/4 tsp salt
2 teaspoons baking powder
6 eggs well beaten
Half a cup of vegetable oil - not olive oil
1/2 teaspoon of lemon flavoring
1 teaspoon vanilla
3 tablespoons of whiskey or milk
1 tablespoon of anise seeds

Directions:

Mix dry ingredients. Mix eggs, oil, milk and flavoring together than add to dry ingredients . Knead like bread. Roll half inch thick ropes . make donuts or candy cane shaped cookies. Bake 425 for 5 to 10 minutes.

Ice with icing made from powdered sugar, canned evaporated milk, and lemon flavoring. Sprinkle with sprinkles and colored sugar

Grandma Moo Moo found a recipe for Italian donuts and tweaked it to make it her own. It’s a tradition for over 60 years to make this every Christmas.
