3/4 cup shortening
2 cups flour
1 cup brown sugar
1/4 tsp salt
1 egg
2 tsp soda
1/4 cup molasses
1 tsp ginger
1 tsp. ground cloves
1 tsp cinnamon

Directions:
Directions:
Combine shortening, sugar and egg in bowl and beat until fluffy. Add
molasses and beat well. Sift dry ingredients and mix in well. Chill dough.
Shape into 1" balls, roll in sugar. Place on greased baking sheet. Drop
one or two drops of water on each ball. Bake at 350º for 8 minutes.
