1 c. cornmeal
2 T. butter (softened)
4 c. milk
4 eggs, well beaten
1-1/2 T. salt

Directions:
Preheat oven to 400º. Combine cornmeal, butter, 3 cups milk in pan over medium heat, bring to a boil stirring constantly. Blend in beaten eggs, salt and 1 cup of milk. Pour into a greased 2 quart casserole. Cook for 45 minutes

This is an old Southern dish from my husband's family. It is soft bread that you can eat with butter or syrup. I think his family sometimes added a spoonful of sugar. It comes out of the oven looking like a cake and it smells wonderful.
