1 cup water
2 cups raisins
1 cup shortening
2 cups sugar
3 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla
½ teaspoon salt
½ teaspoon cinnamon
¼ teaspoon nutmeg
¼ teaspoon allspice
4 cups flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
nuts if desired

Directions:
Directions:
Cook raisins in water until liquid is about half gone. Cool.

Cream together shortening and sugar. Add first mixture. Add eggs one at a time. Add vanilla, salt, spices and nuts, if desired. Add flour, baking power and baking soda.

Drop from teaspoon on greased cooking sheet.

Bake at 400º for 12 - 15 minutes.
