5 c. sugar
2 c. lard or margarine or mixed (melted)
3 eggs
2 Tbsp vanilla (1 tablespoon lemon or almond extract is also good)
3 c. thick cream (may be slightly sour)
4 c. milk
10 tablespoons baking powder
pinch of salt
enough flour to make soft dough (so it is barely workable when rolling out)

ICING:
6 c. icing sugar
3/4 c. butter (softened)
9 Tbsp cream
3 tsp vanilla

Cookies:
Roll out to 1/4" thickness. Cut into shapes.
Bake 10-12 minutes at 400°F
Apply icing when cookies have cooled.
