1 c. butter (we always use margarine)
1 ½ c. sugar
3 eggs
1 t. vanilla
3 ½ c. sifted flour
2 t. cream of tartar
½ t. salt
1 t. soda

Directions:
Mix well & chill 3-4 hours.
Roll 1/4" thick on floured board.
Bake 6-8 min at 375º. Do not bake until brown or cookies will be hard. Take out of oven while still white.
