1 c. shortening
¾ c. brown sugar
¾ c. white sugar
3 eggs
3 c. flour
1 t. baking soda dissolved in 1 T. water
pinch of salt
8 oz semi-sweet chocolate chips
1 c. nuts, chopped (optional)

Directions:
Directions:
Cream shortening, sugars, and eggs in a mixer on high for 4-5 minutes until pale and smooth.

Combine flour, baking soda, and salt, then add gradually to creamed mixture.

Fold in chocolate chips and nuts.

Spoon drop dough on greased cookie sheets.

Bake in 375º oven 8-10 minutes.
