12 oz. German sweet chocolate, chopped.
2 Tbsp. Shortening or softened butter.
1tsp. Instant coffee granules
3 large eggs, room temperature
1 and 1/4 cup granulated sugar
1 tsp. Vanilla extract
1 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 tsp. Baking powder.
1/2 tsp. Salt
1/2 cup chopped pecans (optional)
48 pecan halves
Confectioners sugar optional

Preheat oven to 350°

In a microwave melt chocolate short shortening/butter and vanilla stir until smooth. Stir in coffee granules, cool and set aside.

In a large bowl, beat eggs, and sugar until light and lemon colored Beat in the cool chocolate and vanilla combine the flower, baking powder and salt; add to chocolate mixture and mix well stir in chopped pecans if using

Working quickly, drop dough by teaspoons 2 inches apart onto parchment line baking sheet place a pecan have in the center of each bake until cookies are set, 10 to 12 minutes.. Cool for one minute before removing to wire rack to finish cooling if desired dust with confectioners sugar
