1 and 1/2 cups butter, softened
2 cups granulated sugar
2 large eggs at room temperature
1/2 cup molasses
4 and 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
4 tsp. Ground ginger.
2 tsp. Baking soda.
1 and 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
1 tsp. Ground cloves
1/4 tsp. Salt
1/4 cup chopped pecans (optional)
3/4 course sugar

Preheat oven to 350°

Any large bowl, cream, butter, and sugar until light and fluffy about 5 to 7 minutes, beat in eggs, one at a time along with molasses. Combine the flower, ginger, baking soda, cinnamon, cloves, and salt. gradually add to creamed mixture and mixed well. Fold in pecans if using

Shape into 2 inch balls and roll in course sugar place 2 1/2 inches apart on parchment line cookie sheet bake until tops are cracked 13 to 15 minutes

Remove to wire rack to cool
