1 C raisins- (boil 5 minutes)
1 C water
2/3 c of shortening
1 C white sugar
1 C light Brown sugar
2 eggs
1 C quick oats
2 C flour
1/2 tsp of salt
1 tsp cinnamon
1/4 tsp cloves
1 tsp baking powder
1/2 C Nuts (if desired)

After raisin have boiled for 5 minutes set off the stove a few minutes then stir in the soda while it is still warm.
Sift flour before measuring.
Cream sugar, shortening and eggs then add raisan mixture Oats, flour mixed with spices, salt, baking powder, sifted together,

This is Granny's recipe that she made when we visited from Georgia and she would send them home with us packed in pringles cans with sugar cookies and we could not wait to get down the road and break in to them to see what she sent.

The baking directions were not included in the instructions so I guess you have to use good ole common sense when you make them.
