Ingredients:
Ingredients:
1 ½ pounds boneless roast beef
2 cups water or meat broth
4-5 slices bacon
2 cups chopped onions
1 TBS paprika
2 tsp salt
½ tsp ground pepper
1 cup green pepper
½ cup cold water
¼ cup all-purpose flour

Directions:
Directions:
Use a Dutch oven or a 3-quart saucepan with tight fitting cover. Cut beef into
1-inch pieces. Place in pot and brown all sides of meat stirring frequently.
While beef is browning, dice and place bacon into a frying pan until it is golden brown. Remove bacon and put aside. Add to the bacon fat, chopped onions and fry until it is tender. Blend the bacon and onions into beef meat and stir well. Spread over the meat mixture rest of ingredients: paprika, salt, pepper, and chopped green pepper. Slowly pour over meat the broth or water. Bring to boiling, then reduce heat to slow simmer and cover pot. Cook for 2 hours or until meat is tender when pierced with fork. To thicken the liquid in the pot pour water and flour into a jar and shake until mixture is blended. Slowly pour half of the flour mixture into meat pot, stirring constantly. Bring to slow boil and add remaining flour mixture. Remove from heat and serve hot. Makes about 8 servings. Note: To add more flavor to the meat, 1 like to add chopped carrots, chopped parsley greens, and parsnip or chopped turnip. Do not use parsnip and turnip together, just one of the other. It's optional).
About 1 cup of each. But some tolks don't care for them, so 1 omitted them.
But boy do they ever make a difference.
Enjoy.
