Ingredients:
½ c. vinegar
½ c. sugar

1 Tbsp. corn starch or flour
1 tsp. dry mustard
1 tsp. sugar
1 tsp. salt
1 beaten egg
1 c. undiluted evaporated milk (Carnation!)
1 Tbsp. butter

Directions:
Directions:
Heat the vinegar and ½ c. of sugar in a saucepan

In a bowl combine the dry mustard, sugar, salt, and corn starch (or flour). Moisten with a small amount of the milk. Add the beaten egg and the remainder of the milk.

Gradually add this mixture to the vinegar and sugar stirring well. Simmer for about 15 minutes. You may need to partially cover while cooking because it tends to spurt about. Do not cover tightly. Add the butter and cool.

Personal Notes:
Personal Notes:
Mom always said this could not be made without Carnation milk. I have never tried any other brand but definitely do no use fresh milk or cream or 2% evaporated milk. It won't work! You need this for the potato salad and it tastes great on tomato sandwiches too.
