Personal Notes:
Grandma Esther made everything from scratch! She shared her catsup recipe with me when I was in college and gave me additional verbal instructions to enhance the pretty simple directions on her recipe card. Five years later I was single and living in San Diego around 1990 and decided one day I was going to give her recipe a try. I bought all the supplies and was deep in the mess of canning my results when a friend called to invite me out for a bike ride and dinner. He was born and raised in New York City and when I told him I could not go, I was in the middle of making catchup his reply was “ Kim! You can buy ketchup in the store and it’s less than a dollar a bottle””!” My response was “yes, but it’s just not the same” 😊

Esther was married to Arnold (Peter's son).
