2 Sticks of Butter
1 ½ Cups of Sugar
2 Eggs
3 Tbsp. Buttermilk
1 tsp. Baking Soda
1 tsp. Salt
1 tsp. Vanilla
5 Cups of Flour

Directions:
Directions:
Cream butter and sugar. Add the eggs and beat until well mixed and creamy.
Add the buttermilk and vanilla and mix well. Sift together the flour, salt, and soda.
Add the dry ingredients to the creamy mixture and mix well. Chill dough slightly. Roll out on a floured surface and cut with your favorite cookie cutters. Sprinkle with decorative sugar. Bake at 350º for 12-15 minutes or until cookies are slightly brown around the edges.

This recipe has been in our family for over 75 years. It’s the only recipe that I use for “cut cookies” because the dough doesn’t stick to your cookie cutters and is easy to work with. I divide the dough into 3-4 large balls and wrap in plastic wrap before placing in the refrigerator. I also use parchment paper to roll out my cookie dough.
