1 1/4 cups butter
1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
1/8 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon almond extract
2 cups flour
red, green, white sanding sugar
1 tablespoon milk

Directions:
Directions:
in a large bowl beat butter, powdered sugar and salt with an electric mixer medium speed until creamy. beat in almond extract. at low speed slowly blend in flour until combined. refrigerate for 30 minutes.

heat oven to 350 degrees. line cookie sheets with parchment .
shape dough into 3/4 inch balls (about 48 balls total). Roll 1/3 the balls in each color sanding sugar, coating completely.
on cookie sheet place about 1 inch apart

Bake 15 minutes or until set and bottoms are light golden brown. Remove fron cookie sheet to cooling rack. Cool completely.

in a small bowl, beat the remaining 1/4 cup butter, powdered sugar, almond extract, and milk with an electric mixer until smooth. Cut the cookies balls in half. for each sandwich cookies spread 1/2 teaspoon filling on bottom half, then topping with the top half to form a ball
