2 1/4 cups flour
1 tsp soda
2 tsp cream of tartar
1 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp ginger
1/4 tsp cloves
1/2 tsp salt
3/4 cup butter Crisco
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1 egg
1/4 cup molasses
2 tsp pure vanilla extract


Directions:
Directions:

In a medium bowl mix together all dry ingredients except sugars.
In a large bowl cream, the sugars and shortening together until light and fluffy.
Add egg, vanilla and molasses. Mix until integrated completely.
Slowly stir the dry ingredients into the sugar mixture until a dough forms. Transfer to a covered dish and refrigerate for 30 minutes.
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Line baking sheet with parchment paper.
In a small bowl whisk together 1/2 cup granulated sugar and 1 1/2 tsp cinnamon.
Scoop out rounded tablespoons of dough, roll into a ball, then roll into the cinnamon sugar and place 2 inches apart on baking sheet.
Bake for 10-11 minutes. DO NOT OVERBAKE
Allow to cool on baking sheet for a few minutes before moving to a cooling rack.
