Dressing:
1/2 c sugar (use 1/2 this amount and it is still very sweet)
2/3 c vinegar
1/3 c oil (i always use olive or avocado)
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon pepper

1 can cut green beans (yes... canned... see notes)
1 can cut wax beans (see notes)
1 can dark kidney beans
1/2 c chopped green pepper (or red) - make thin strips

blend dressing together

Use fresh green and wax beans and blanch until just a little soft then plunge into ice water to maintain the color and stop the cooking.
once dried, cut beans in half

add vegetables together and add dressing and toss.

Let refrigerate for a little while to get all meldy before you serve

I loved this as a kid... it's too sweet for me today as written... I still like it with way less sugar and with fresh green and wax beans that are blanched....

this was peasant food back in the day....
