1/3 cup butter
1/4 cup sugar
1/2 cup molasses
1 egg
1-1/2 cups all purpose flour
1/2 tsp soda
1/4 tsp salt
1 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp mace (or if none, increase other spices)
1 tsp nutmeg
1/4 tsp ginger
1/4 tsp allspice
2-1/2 cups mixed candied fruit, chopped finely (about 1 lb)
2 cups chopped nuts

Directions:
Directions:
Heat oven to 325º. Mix butter, sugar, molasses and egg. Measure flour by dipping method or by sifting. Stir dry ingredients together; then blend into butter mixture. Stir in fruit and nuts.

Drop dough by teaspoonfuls about 1 inch apart on a lightly greased baking sheet. Bake 12 to 15 minutes.

Yield: Approximately 6 dozen cookies.
