Directions:Dissolve yeast in warm water, then add 3 tbsp of sugar. Let stand for 10 minutes until bubbles form. If no bubbles, then yeast was bad and you need to start over. Once bubbles are formed add 2 cups of flour and let stand. Combine milk, butter, salt, and ½ cup sugar in sauce pan and bring to boil. Let cool. Add milk and 3 beaten eggs to cooled liquid. Add this mixture to flour mixture. Grease your hands and a large bowl. Transfer flour mixture to greased bowl and add an additional 8 cups of flour. Knead flour mixture until sticky to the touch. Cover and let raise in a warm location for 1 to 2 hours. Punch down raised dough and raise again for another 1 to 2 hours. Grease cookie sheets and pinch off 2 inch balls and place on cookie sheet. Cover and let raise again. Bake at 350º for about 15 minutes or until buns are golden brown. |

Notes: Growing up in Argusville, there were few Saturdays when we did not go to Casselton to visit Grandma Taves. On those Saturdays, she usually was baking something and most of the times it was buns. There was nothing better than eating the buns fresh out of the oven with butter and peanut butter spread on them.
