1 cup of brown sugar
1 cup of shortening
1 egg

1 cup of molasses
1 teaspoon of baking soda

1 cup of buttermilk
5 cups of flour

1 teaspoon of salt, 1 teaspoon of cinnamon and 2/2 teaspoon of ginger

Directions:
Directions:
Cream together brown sugar, shortening, and the egg.

Separately mix molasses and baking soda and beat until light and add this to the creamed mixture.

Alternate milk and flour to mix together.

Add the salt, cinnamon, and ginger.
Refrigerate for 1 hour.
Roll them out thick, bake and add frosting if you’d like after they cool.

Bake at 350 for 10 to 12 minute’s

These soft molasses cookies come from Reed's great grandma Alice Louise Poupore Lacroix. These are tried and true and Grandma Lacy would say, “ these are so full of good vitamins” and they smell delicious while they are cooking too.
