2 C f;our, sifted
¼ t salt
1 t soda
1 t cinnamon
½ t nutmeg
1 egg, beaten
1 C sugar
⅓ C butter, melted
⅓ C butter-flavored Crisco, melted
2 T molasses
2 T water
1 t vanilla
½ t almond extract
2 C rolled oats, NOT quick oats
½ C raisins (dates or craisins)
½ C chopped nuts (pecans or walnuts)

Directions:
Directions:
Sift together flour, salt, soda, cinnamon & nutmeg. Set aside. Beat egg, add sugar, melted butter & Crisco, molasses, water, vanilla & almond extract. Mix well. Combine with dry ingredients. Stir in oats, raisins & chopped nuts. Form into 2" discs on cookie sheet. Bake at 350º for 12-15 minutes.

These were Grandpa Kenneth Hester's favorite cookies. He would make a large batch of these at Christmas time & enjoy them for breakfast with his coffee.
