Directions:Preheat oven to 350º
In a mixing bowl, beat butter, sugar, egg yolk, milk and vanilla until light and fluffy. In a separate bowl combine flour, cocoa and salt; gradually add to creamed mixture. Cover and chill for 1 hour or until firm enough to roll into balls. Meanwhile, lightly beat egg white. Shape dough into 1" balls; dip in the egg white and roll in the walnuts. Place on a baking sheet and make a small indentation inthe center of each cookie with your thumb. Bake 10-12 minutes (until center is set).
While the cookies bake, combine the first 4 filling ingredients in a small bowl and mix until smooth. Immediately when cookies come out of the oven, spoon 1/4 tsp of frosting onto each cookie and gently press a chocolate kiss on top. Carefully transfer cookies onto a wire rack to cool. Note: the chocolate kisses on top of the cookies will become very soft and melty, so it is important to let them completely set before storing or serving. |
