Cabbage (about 4 lbs. loosely packed)
2 lbs. brown sugar
2 packages of chopped frozen onions
3 large cans tomato juice
1 ⅓ large bottle lemon juice
2 lbs. rice (raw)
3 lbs. ground beef
Salt and pepper

Directions:
Directions:
The night before, soak 4 cups of rice in 4 cups of rice in 4 cups of warm water. The next day, combine meat with rice, salt and pepper. Mix well; add onions. Mix well again.

Remove the core out of each cabbage. Put cabbage one at a time in a bowl. Pour boiling water over cabbage. Let it stand until leaves come off easily.

Preheat oven to 400º.

Take some of the meat mixture and place in the center of the cabbage leaf. Roll and fold the leaf carefully tucking in the sides.

Place chaluptchas in roaster. Do not use liner. Pour over 2 cans of tomato juice, lemon juice and good portion of brown sugar. Salt and pepper too. Cover and put in oven for 45 minutes. Reduce heat to 250º and cook for 3 hours. Taste during cooking time to see if it needs more lemon juice, tomato juice, sugar or seasonings.
