"I have long believed that good food, good eating is all about risk. Whether we're talking about unpasteurized Stilton, raw oysters or working for organized crime 'associates,' food, for me, has always been an adventure."--Anthony Bourdain

Directions:
Preheat oven to 400ºF. Cream together butter and sugar. Beat in egg and vanilla. Add baking powder to flour. Add one cup of flour mixture at a time to butter mixture, beating after each addition. Do not chill dough. You may color the dough with icing color or add 3 ounces melted unsweetened chocolate. If dough becomes too stiff, add 1 tsp. water at a time. Divide dough into 2 balls. Roll out to 1/8" thick. Dip cookie cutters in flour before each use. Dip spatula in flour and slide under. Place on cookie sheet covered with parchment paper and bake on top rack of oven for 6-7 minutes or until lightly brown. Cookies can be decorated with sprinkles prior to baking or iced once cooled.
